February Harbor View Neighborhood Association Meeting

The next meeting of the Harbor View Neighborhood Association will be on February 6, 2023, at 6pm. The meeting is In Person only but will be streamed via Facebook for archival purposes. Attendance on Facebook does not qualify for voting. The meeting will be held in the Salesian Boys and Girls Club cafeteria, across from the Brooke Charter School on Byron Street. You can access the meeting from the front door on Byron Street or from the rear door on Wordsworth Street, which is the handicap entry, to avoid the stairs. Since we are indoors, masks are optional for those in attendance.

Llega a la cafeteria del Salesian Boys y Girls Club por la calle Byron al otro lado de Brooke Charter School. Pueda usar la entrada pricipal por la calle Byron o la entrada en calle de Wordsworth. La entrada de calle Wordsworth no tienne escaleras por personas con discapacidades. El cubre bocas sera opcional puesto que estaremos adentro.

• Announcements (5min) East Boston Senior Center is open. Greenway membership.
• Opera lovers Boston – Opera and Zarzuela present two venues:
March 5, at Zumix at 4pm
April 1, at Sacred Heart Church at 7pm.
• Homer Street parcel.
• Station 7 Police Report (15min) Sgt. Cintolo, Officer Mosley, Officer Figueroa and Officer Alvarez.
• McLean Park aka St. Mary Playground (15min) – Annie Blair, Project Manager, Parks and Recreation will provide an update on the planned renovation of the park. Timelines, next steps, and the 3rd community meeting date.
• Boston Landmark Office of Historic Preservation (60min) Nicholas Armata, Senior Planner will educate us about protecting the City of Boston’s built cultural heritage. He will share regulations, policy and terms like Demolition Delay, Environmental Benefits of Historic Structures, Landmarking, Archaeology and Q&A.
• 1 Westbrook Street (30min)
• Boston Scores Executive Director, John Maconga, and his team will make a 2nd Presentation and VOTE on the proposed renovations of the athletic field which includes construction of a new field house, including bathrooms, shower, and storage area. Renovation of the existing athletic field to include multiple artificial turf soccer fields, playground, community garden, outdoor classroom, sitting area, athletic field lights, and addition of off-street parking.

The next meeting of the HVNA will be on March 6, 2023.
